Oscars 2019 will be remembered for #OscarsSoDiverse ‘check’


It was around three years ago, when The Academy was highly criticized for its Oscar Awards winners list being not diverse enough, and hence had been criticized for being #OscarsSoWhite. It was a hard criticism and corrective actions had to follow. ‘Representation matters’ – became the driving force for the next set of years, and nominations and winners started to get decided to ensure inclusion & diversity. Not a bad thing at all, in fact it is a fair parameter under consideration to promote and motivate the craft across the board. But it hurts when political correctness gets the upper hand at the cost of excellence on the craft, and the best talents and nominations for the year get snubbed, because they don’t check the boxes of diversity, nationalism, staying politically correct and relevant, and so many other factors.

Oscars 2019 : Complete Nominations


The nominations for Academy Awards 2019 were announced earlier today.

The period comedy-drama The Favourite and Netflix’s black-and-white epic Roma lead this year’s Oscar race, with 10 nominations each. The other contenders include A Star Is Born and Vice with eight each, followed by Black Panther with seven. Black Panther is the first superhero movie to be nominated for best picture.

Critics’ Choice Awards 2019 – Winners!


The Broadcast Film Critics Association and Broadcast Television Journalists Association bestowed their annual Critics’ Choice Awards 2019, honoring achievement in movies and TV for 2018

ROMA, Vice, Black Panther and The Favorite won big. A Star is Born, First Man and If Beale Street Could Talk took home multiple awards as well. The critical thing to keep in mind is that the Oscar Best Picture winner has often coincided with the Critics Choice awards, and that can give ROMA some additional hope. Certainly, we are not complaining.

BAFTA has announced the nominations for the EE British Academy Film Awards in 2019.
